Cathedral Lead Cellar
(Bleikeller)

   
 
The cellar of the Cathedral St. Petri is a bit feary because of what is displayed there: 8 preserved bodies who lie in open coffins. The bodies include for example a countess, a soldier and a student who died at the beginning of the 18th century.

Paula-Modersohn-Becker House

Bremen Boettcherstrasse Modersohn-Becker Museum  
As many of the buildings in Boettcherstrasse, the Paula-Modersohn-Becker House was designed by Bernhard Hoetger as well. Works of the expressionist Paula ModersohnBecker (18761907) are exhibited in its museum.

Roselius House

Bremen Boettcherstrasse Roselius Haus  
The Roselius House is the oldest house in the Boettcherstrasse. An inscription shows that the foundation masonry was probably built in the 14th century. The house was finished at the end of the 16th century. In 1928, Ludwig Roselius also famous for Cafe HAG founded a museum in his house. Now, there are exhibited precious furniture, carpets and glasses as well as sculptures and paintings from the 12th to the 19th century.

Kunsthalle

At the Kulturmeile ("Cultural Mile") located "Am Wall", there are several interesting museums and exhibitions: the Kunsthalle, the Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus and the Gerhard Marcks Haus.
In the Kunsthalle, there is a collection of works of old masters as well as of modern art. In addition, there are regular temporary exhibitions.





Wilhelm-Wagenfeld-Haus

The Wilhelm-Wagenfeld-Haus is the exhibition center of the Design Zentrum Bremen (Design Center Bremen).


Gerhard-Marcks Haus

The Gerhard-Marcks Haus not only deals with the sculptor Gerhard Marcks (1889 1981). There are also exhibitions of famous sculptors like Giacometti and Ernst Barlach as well as of temporary artists like Beuys.



Hafenmuseum Speicher XI

In this museum, you learn more about the history of Bremen as harbour city.

Neues Museum Weserburg

This museum shows collections of modern arts. It's purpose is to deal actively with contemporary arts in temporary exhibitions.

Universum Science Center

The Universum Science Center was opened in 2000. Located near the University of Bremen in an impressing modern building with the shape of a whale and a shell, there are three extensive exhibitions dealing with mankind, earth and cosmos.
In 2007, the vast outside area was opened where it is possible to experience nature. The "SchauBox" for temporary exhibitions was also opened in 2007.
